Support a Senior in Keeping the Lights On

 

Hello. I'm a bit embarrassed to be asking for help.

But I've been trapped in a situation for a few years now and I'm looking to break free once and for all.

I'm 71 years old. I support myself and 3 other adults on my social security check which is only $1706 a month.

I also do odd jobs to pick up a few bucks here and there.

I'm on various programs which help with food and sometimes utilities.

And there lies my problem.

My electric bill has piled up over the years and while I'm able to make some payments it is never enough to get caught up.

I believe I can pay my electric bill monthly and keep it current if I could eliminate the accumulated charges that are on my account.

Currently I have a turn off notice for the electric that will happen in about 6 days. I have spoken to the electric company and various charities and government programs but everyone seems to be out of funds at this time.

My wife has a medical condition and needs the electric on. We have been able to get a medical waver in the past but we have exhausted the amount of times we can get one.

So I'm desperately looking for help.

Any amount would help. I have no other options. I know there are a lot of worthy causes out there but I hope you would consider me one of them.

I truly believe I can escape this monthly crises if I could eliminate the back debt on my bill.
